Arrival and Dismissal Your child may arrive at school beginning at 7:15. Announcements will begin at 7:45. The tardy bell rings at 7:50. It is vital that your child arrives before the 7:50 bell. Arriving early (around 7:30) will give your child an opportunity to unpack and get organized for the day. The best way to ensure that your child is on time every day is to send them on the bus in the morning! In the afternoon, dismissal times are as follows: 2:10- First Load Buses, ASP 2:15 – Car Riders, Walkers, Day Care Buses, 2:20 – Bus Riders
Transportation One of my top priorities is getting your child home safely. In order to do that, I need your help. If there is ANY change in how your child will be going home, a note must be sent. Please include the following on all transportation notes: --Your child’s name, my name, the date If a last minute change must be made during the day, please fax the note (with the same information) to the front office at 770-975-6675 no later than 1:45. They will send a transportation change slip to our room.No dismissal changes can be made via email.
Lunch We have lunch from 11:30 - 12:00. Please feel free to join us by meeting us in the front hall by the cafeteria. Food from outside restaurants may not be brought in to the cafeteria. Please make sure to send all lunch money in an envelope with your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name. You may also pay for your child's lunches using our MealPay Plus service online accessible through the Cobb County Website.
Birthdays If your child would like to share a birthday treat with the class, you may bring a birthday dessert to share at lunch time in the cafeteria, or if you are unable to join us at lunchtime, you may drop off treats in the morning and I will be happy to pass them out. Please let me know in advance so I can make arrangements for any students who may have food allergies.
Contacting Me If you ever have a question or concern or need to discuss something with me, please let me know. You can drop a note in your child’s C.A.M.P. Folder, email me (firstname.lastname@example.org), or call me (770-975-6673) at school. If you call during the regular school day, you will be sent to my voice mail. Due to our schedule, I may not receive your message until after the students have left. Email is always the best way to reach me. ***Please note that transportation changes can not be left on voice mail or email.
Money Please make sure that any money that you send in is marked properly and in the correct envelope. Money should be placed in the zipper pouch in the front of your child's binder. ASP money must be in a brown ASP envelope that has been completely filled in. Lunch money must be in a blue Lunch envelope that has been completely filled in. PTA money can be in a plain envelope, but needs to be marked “PTA” and must show your child’s name, grade, and my name. All money for field trips, performing arts, etc. that comes home with the white Lewis envelope must be returned in that envelope. It must be completely filled in with your child’s name, my name and grade and the necessary information at the bottom. Please do not write one check for multiple items when sending these white Lewis envelopes. Please DO NOT place any permission slips or order forms in the envelope, attach any forms to the outside of the sealed envelope. Please let me know if you need additional envelopes.
Snack We will set aside time for a small snack every morning. Please send something QUICK and HEALTHY (apple, banana, granola or fruit bar, etc.). Juice, milk, or carbonated beverages are not allowed in the classroom, but water bottles are allowed.
Homework Homework assignments will begin in September. Please help your child take responsibility for completing and returning homework. Homework is an extension of study at school and allows your child extra practice. Completed homework will be checked at school. More information about homework will be discussed at Open House. Medication Medication must be brought to school by a parent or legal guardian and not transported by the student. If your child needs to take medication at school or keep an inhaler for emergencies, please send in a detailed note. A medication form from the clinic must be completed before any medicine can be administered.
Label Belongings /Extra Clothes Please label all personal items (jacket, book bag, lunch box, etc.). Your child’s name should be clearly visible. Many children have the same exact bag or coat. If an item gets misplaced, let me know and I can remind your child to check the lost and found. In case of accidents at school, please keep a change of clothes in your child's backpack.
